Take In That Which Surrounds You

It's FALL!

I must say I love the kinds of weather that comes with Autumn. The trees start breaking down the chlorophyll that is stored in them throughout Spring and Summer... Hmm lets just say: The leafs change color and then they slowly dance within the wind as they fall to the ground!

On those days when the winds pick up to 20-25mph and you step outside and take in the cooling, moist, winds all around you. Breathing deep, and feeling your soul become entangled within nature for that split second as you close your eyes to the bluish, white, sky up above and imagine you are floating and twirling within the wind, then you open your eyes to the sky and watch those fluffy grayish white clouds close in all around you intensifying your feeling of dancing with the wind and clouds that threatening the onset of rain...

It has been rainy around here, but even if I walk to work in the rain,I still have been able to smile. I wake up on work days and look out the door to see how it looks outside, and the last couple days it has been gray and rainy, which bring on a reaction of "ugh" which I think is just a common reaction to seeing gloomy weather. Nevertheless, once I am outside and walking, I may see a chipmunk, squirrel or a bird and I always have to smile, once that first smile comes, my mood lightens and I take in what surrounds me: the light wind blowing past me, reviving me with a brisk burst of oxygen and waking me up to start my day. My work days have been great, compared to when I used to just drive.

Onto TODAY, which is how I came up with this post.

My son slept over last night and the forecast called for rain all day today, so before bed I told the kids: "when we get up we are heading outdoors if its not raining already".

So the first thing I checked when we got up... anyone guess? No? Answer: The door, to look outside and see if it was raining! To my relief it was NOT raining yet! So we made pancakes and off to the great outdoors we went. The threat of rain was greatly increased every time I looked to the sky and the wind picked up, but it was GREAT! This morning was the best Fall weather so far! It wasn't hot, it wasn't cold, it wasn't to dry and it wasn't raining.

So we are walking, my son has his sisters hand and he says: "we should have stayed indoors"

I looked at him while pushing the stroller and said: "WHAT! It is great out here!" stopped the stroller and held my arms to the sky and let the wind take them and in the process I am sure I made some embarrassing noises which tend to come with enjoying life!

My son then looked at me and said: "we should just run home so we don't get wet"

once again I said: "WHAT! This is the best part, challenging the rain to beat us home!"

I then took his sister out of the stroller to let her walk and enjoy the wind blowing her backwards and we both jogged and acted like we were flying in the wind, while he pushed the stroller with his other sister in it!

He stopped saying we should have stayed indoors and started having fun with us!

I looked up to the sky and there were about 25 seagulls in the sky trying to fly against the wind, as I watched the seagulls, the clouds blew across the sky and the seagulls looked like as if they were flying in place, they weren't going anywhere, it was awesome to watch, (I wanted my camera, of course) But we went technology free, not on purpose I might add, and it felt FREEING to not worry about getting electronics wet, not being able to look at my phone, and just enjoy our surroundings without having to capture it! I looked at my son and just said: "Just enjoy what we have in front of us" I pointed out the seagulls and asked him how awesome was it to watch them soar!

The point to my story?

Yeah, I don't have one!

I am starting to try to look at the positive more often and hope it becomes a constant thing, without having to tell myself to look around me and not just at the one thing that might be making me feel negative.

Email me your positive, weird, funny moments and I will post along with mine (picture, video clip, or story!) Egan_Patricia@outlook.com

Remember we are never perfect, but we are always loved!
